Website User Terms of Service & Privacy Rights
Please read the following terms and conditions before using this site. Your use and/or access of this site indicate your consent to the terms and conditions contained herein.
While EMHS (Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems) is committed to protect the privacy of its online users, since most information transmitted over the Internet is not secure, EMHS cannot guarantee confidentiality except as specifically set forth herein. EMHS does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals, except when it is provided by such individuals. We do not share voluntarily provided personally identifiable information for any purpose other than its intended use. EMHS believes that privacy on the Internet is important, and we encourage you to read our Terms of Service and associated Privacy Policies carefully, so that you understand how we collect and use your information.
The general information offered on all EMHS websites is not intended nor should it be construed as a substitute for medical or other professional healthcare advice and/or treatment. If you have questions or concerns about your health, please contact your own healthcare provider. While we have exercised care in providing information, including links to other sites, we make no warranty or representation as to the accuracy, timeliness or applicability of any of the information or links.
Information Collection and Use
We collect some basic data about site visitors. This information may include domain names, Web site traffic patterns and server usage statistics. This information is used for site management and administration and to improve the content and overall performance of our site.
EMHS member websites have security measures in place that are intended to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of the information under our control. EMHS employs security measures to safeguard online transactions via secure sections of the EMHS site. The current level of encryption technology used to secure transactions is Secure Socket Layer (SSL) version 3.0, at 128-Bit encryption provided the user's PC/device is configured to enable this level of encryption. If the user’s PC/device is not configured to enable this level of encryption, confidentiality can be more easily compromised.
Subscription to newsletter or press releases
If you subscribe to a newsletter, publication or press release published by EMHS and distributed via email, we will keep your email address in a private distribution list. Messages sent electronically do not reveal recipients' email addresses or any other personal information to third parties. EMHS will only send messages to individuals who have opted to subscribe and who have provided their email address to us directly. We do not use this email address list for any other purpose, and we only add individuals at their request. At any time, you may opt out by using the unsubscribe link provided on our web site and in the publication email, which will remove your information from the distribution list for that publication.
"Cookies" and how we use them
Third-Party Service Providers
EMHS may engage third-party vendors to help us manage our web sites and services to allow us to better serve our patients, visitors and online users.
Links to other sites
EMHS sites have links to other sites we think may be of interest to our visitors. The purpose of these links is to provide visitors with convenient access to other sites that might interest them. A link to another site does not imply an endorsement of the site's content or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites not owned or operated by EMHS. We encourage you to be aware of that when you leave our site and to read privacy statements at any sites you visit that collect personally identifiable data.
EMHS does not collect your email address unless you voluntarily submit it to us or choose to communicate with us via email. EMHS does not sell or rent any email addresses. Do not email patient health information because that information is confidential and we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information transmitted over the internet through a non-secure EMHS site. Confidential information should only be discussed either in person with your physician or through our Care Catalyst secure e-mail portal (please talk to your physician’s office to see if it is available to you).
Disclosure of Information
It is possible that we could be forced to disclose your personally identifiable user information or even your confidential health information in response to a search warrant, subpoena, or court order. Disclosures may also be appropriate to protect our legal rights and the security or integrity of our Web site, or to avoid liability. Those kinds of disclosures are highly unlikely, but possible.
